How to combine work and study

How to combine work and study

Not all of us are free to study without having to work at the same time. While for younger students a job is just an option, adults willing to continue their education don’t have much of a choice. Of course, it’s hard to combine study with a full-time job, but “hard” doesn’t mean “impossible”. You can become an effective student and worker at the same time if you follow these simple tips.

1. Plan your routines well.

The most effective people usually know how to manage their time well. Lucky for you, this is a skill that can be mastered: if you learn how to focus better and how to plan your day, you’ll be able to become more productive. Learn time management tips, remember how much time it takes for you to finish a certain work task or a study assignment  and plan your days using this knowledge. Though it can be tough at first, as soon as you understand all planning principles well, it’ll become much easier.

2. Priorities have to be made.

Priorities have to be made

If you plan everything but still don’t have much time left for studies by the end of the day, this means that you’ll have to sacrifice something. Maybe you spend too much time in social media or aren’t able to quit watching your favorite TV show after one episode? It’s very important to find out what are your time stealers and decide what you are willing to sacrifice in order to achieve your goals. Don’t be upset: after all, these sacrifices won’t last forever and you’ll still have a weekend to spend on relaxation.

A little tip here: try sacrificing things that you do on your own, not the ones that include your friends, family and beloved ones.

3. Split your studies.

Sometimes big assignments scare us. However, it’s possible to make them look less scary by dividing them into smaller ones. For example, you are assigned to write an essay, but you have to keep up with your work and daily routines at the same time. Divide the whole essay writing process into certain tasks and spend a small amount of time every day on researching and writing. That way you’ll be able to complete your assignment without having to spend a whole day or night on it.

If you have a lot of reading homework to do, try reading every time you have a free minute: for example, when you’re coming to work (of course, only if you’re not driving), when you’re waiting for dinner to cook, and so on. That way it will be much easier.

4. Work hard and relax well.

Say Goodbye To Long Posts

It is impossible to stay concentrated and motivated if you don’t relax enough. That’s why you need to plan your rest the same way you plan your work and studies: be sure to free some time every day and to use it for the rest. Remember that some things are more relaxing than the others: if you spend too much time working with a computer, try going for a walk, meeting with friends or doing some kind of physical activity to rest.

5.Take care of your health.

A healthy lifestyle makes us more energized and productive. If you want to concentrate better, to avoid getting tired easily and to make the most of your work and study process, be sure that you get enough sleep and eat healthily. It is also important to avoid stimulants (such as energetics and alcohol) and to free some time to work out.

While the whole process of combining work with studies is hard, it actually helps us to become more productive and proud of yourself. Yes, it might be tough for you at first, but you’ll be surprised how soon you’ll be able to do so much more things within the same 24 hours. We wish you good luck with that!
